Allowing Happiness To Last

When you shift from happiness linked to what other people think of you to happiness based on what you think of yourself, then you’re able to trust happiness. This is because your happiness becomes no longer reliant on someone or something else which has been elevated in your mind to a position of authority over you.

Allowing Happiness to Last Meditation

Close your eyes and focus on your breathing, deep breath in slow breath out, allowing your thoughts to roll around your head and disappear on the out breath allowing your body to relax and your mind to remain alert.

On the next in breath – focus on your arms, notice the tension in the muscles, now allow the muscles to relax, feel your hands relax, as you allow yourself to relax deeper and deeper.

On the next in breath focus on your legs, notice the tension in the muscles, now allow the muscles to relax, feel the tension drain from your legs as you relax deeper and deeper.

On the next in breath – focus on your pelvis, feel the tension in the pelvis, on the out breath allow it to relax – as you relax deeper and deeper.

Now focus on the chest area – feel the shallowness of your breath, feel how high it is in your chest, how anxiety and worry is breathed into the chest area – feel yourself deepen your breath as you draw it deeper into your body, as you do, feel a deep sense of relaxation spread through the body as your breathing slows and you begin to release all tension from deep within the body as you relax deeper and deeper.

On the next in breath – feel your awareness being drawn in through the heart chakra – this is the centre of your chest. As you breath in – feel your awareness feel sucked in, to the internal corridor, if you can’t see then sense.

In this space – feel your awareness moving along the corridor, as you go deeper into this space feel your awareness see or sense a worried person in the corridor. This person represents your energy in a state of worry and anxiety. As they come towards you, become aware of how they approach you and how they make you feel. As they approach you, they start to remind you of all the things you have to do and all the mistakes you’ve made. All the things you’ve done wrong and their worry on how to correct them. Notice how you feel about this person – do they irritate you or do you see them as authority?

They hurry you along the corridor as they know they have to take you to the room of mourning mistakes so you can set them free. The worrier however, likes you to remember mistakes so will be reluctant to take you there, they know they have to though. As they take you to the room – see or sense if they’re still talking to you, if they’re trying to control how you’re supposed to feel, just notice as you approach the room of mourning.

As you open the door – send the worrier in ahead of you. Tell them it’s time to allow happiness to last so that means releasing what hasn’t manifested in the way you’d hoped for. As you both go inside – there is a row of baskets, inside are the things you’ve been holding onto that hold up lasting happiness. One basket will be the one you’re the most attracted to or calls to you. In your mind, go towards it, and ask the worrier to pick it up and look inside.

Inside are items that represent the energy you’ve been holding out for in the hope it was different to what it is. Notice why the worrier has been holding onto it, say to them it’s time now to hand the basket over and let it go.

Feel if this part of you goes through any resistance – as it hands the basket over to you. As you take it and the responsibility of it, feel the basket start to change, the energy of it heat up, until the basket disintegrates and dissolves to dust – as this happens feel any uncomfortable energy leave your body, breathing deeply to let it go.

In your mind as you look up – see or sense how the worrier has changed, their energy dispersed to reveal the healthier version free of the burden in the basket.

As this happens – feel a warmth expand from your chest area right the way through your body. Feel a gentle calm spread from the centre of your chest, right the way through your body as you begin to gently return to your physical world.

In your mind, feel your awareness leaving the now warm inner room, making your way back out into the corridor as you return your awareness through the heart chakra, spreading through your body. In your mind imagine tree roots emanating from the bottom of your feet, imagine them planting into the ground as you feel your awareness sinking deep into your every day world as you focus on your breathing and very gently bring your awareness back into the room and when you are ready – open your eyes.
